Welcome, friend.
I'm so glad you're here.
I’ve been sitting with Matthew 7 lately — the part where Jesus invites us to ask, seek, knock. And the more I read it, the more I realize He wasn’t giving us a checklist. He was inviting us into a rhythm. A way of living that keeps us close to Him, not just when life feels heavy, but in the everyday moments too.
Because prayer was never meant to be something we whisper once and walk away from. It’s a returning. A remembering. A relationship.
And honestly, that’s something I’ve needed to relearn.
Here’s how Jesus says it in the King James Version:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?”
— Matthew 7:7–10, KJV
Those verbs — ask, seek, knock — are active. Ongoing. Continuous.
Not “ask once.”
Not “seek when you feel like it.”
Not “knock if you remember.”
It’s the picture of a child who knows their Father is good — confident enough to come back again and again.
And when someone is on your heart — your spouse, your kids, your friends, the people you’re quietly carrying — you feel that. The concern doesn’t disappear after one prayer. The burden doesn’t evaporate. It circles back. And Jesus invites us to bring it back to Him.
There’s a small section in my study Bible that stopped me the other day. It said that both Jesus and Paul emphasized the importance of prayer — not just for ourselves, but for our mate, our relationships, the people God has placed in our lives.
It reminded me that prayer is an act of love.
Faithfulness in motion.
A way of saying, “I’m not giving up on you.”
And I needed that reminder.
Most of us don’t struggle with wanting to pray. We struggle with remembering to pray.
Life gets loud. Days get full. Intentions get buried under laundry and errands and notifications.
So I’ve been leaning into simple tools — not to make prayer complicated, but to make it consistent.
Make A Prayer Board!
A wall, a corkboard, a handful of sticky notes. Names. Needs. Scriptures. Things I’m believing God for. Things I’m releasing to Him. It becomes a visual reminder that God is moving even when I can’t see it yet.
Use A Prayer Journal!
A place to write down the things I’m asking, seeking, and knocking for. A place to look back and see what God has done. A place to trace His faithfulness in ink.
Or… just the Notes app on your phone!
No supplies. No setup. No pressure.
A simple list titled “Prayer” that you update throughout the week. Add dates. Add Scriptures. Add praise reports. It’s free, it’s accessible, and it keeps your heart engaged.
Because the goal isn’t to be organized — it’s to be faithful.
Pray with me…
God, help us to love You and to love each other.
Help us walk consistently and expectantly with You.
Teach us to keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking — not out of fear, but out of trust.
Make us faithful in prayer for the people You’ve entrusted to us.
Amen.
Maybe today is your reminder that prayer doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be persistent.
Choose a simple way to remember the people and places God has placed on your heart. Let it become a rhythm — a quiet, steady returning. And watch how God meets you in the asking, the seeking, and the knocking.
You can always sit at this table.
So pull up a chair, stay awhile, and know this is what I pray for you:
That you find encouragement here, that your cup be filled, and you leave each visit reminded of the God who welcomes us, feeds us, and satisfies every thirst.
With grace, gratitude, and a seat saved just for you,
Kimmy
